Our New Mascot
You may have noticed that we have a new red panda mascot for the blog. I think he's pretty cool!
The red panda images on the top and bottom of the blog were illustrated by Agus Prajago of choppic.com.
My original idea was to have a cartoony animal created as our mascot to help improve clicks for our social icons and RSS feed. I chose a red panda because it's an animal native to China, but one that doesn't get nearly as much attention as other animals considered to be symbols of China, such as the dragon or panda. The red panda deserves some more attention, don't you think? Just like a lot of the posts on East-West-Connect expose areas of Chinese-language marketing that should probably deserve more attention from you as well.
Agus planned and created the two red panda illustrations and matching favicon. He came up with the style, choosing to give the panda a fun but business-like appearance to match the blog. He also came up with the idea for the Chinese scroll that now houses our blog name, slogan and social icons.
I'm very pleased with the results and would recommend Agus to anybody looking for a character illustrator.
Now, I'll have to wait and see if more people are drawn to click those social icons as I hope they will...
